Lifelong learning - ecolinguistics

15 Jan, 2021, No comments
I am a strong believer in lifelong learning, both professionally and on a personal level. A linguist is never "ready": in order to stay up to date with what's going on in the world of language, one must keep studying and reading. One of the most recent courses I enrolled in is The Stories We Live By, an online course in ecolinguistics organised by the University of Gloucestershire. You've hopefully learned by now how passionate I am about combating the climate change so this is a natural extension to it. I'm planning to write about the subject soon so stay tuned!

Proofreading services

10 Nov, 2020, No comments
I would like to remind you that I am also proofreading/editing texts that were originally written in Finnish. It does require different skills to edit the text if there is no original English text for reference but I am confident in doing that.

In fact, I just finished proofreading and editing several pages long leaflet for a Nordic animal food provider. I didn't only edit the mistakes, as I was paid to do, but I also provided some suggestions, free of charge. The customer can now easily improve the tone of the text if they are happy to implement my free suggestions.

Do you have a text you wish another pair of eyes to view?

Please do not hesitate to contact me. I can provide you with a quote within hours.

Facebook added Climate Science Information Center

15 Sep, 2020, No comments
"The Climate Science Information Center is a dedicated space on Facebook with factual resources from the world’s leading climate organizations and actionable steps people can take in their everyday lives to combat climate change... We will also include posts from relevant sources to highlight climate science news. " Source: about.fb.com/news/2020/09/stepping-up-the-fight-against-climate-change

I'm passionate about promoting ecologically sustainable living and this latest news motivated me to help Facebook with their Fnnish pages by translating and rating the proposed translations.

EU Songbook

5 Aug, 2020, No comments
I had the privilege to contribute to the first EU Songbook which will be published soon. This interesting project contained translating a professional letter and an advert from English into Finnish. The letter had to be absolutely perfect but that was not an issue because I always deliver a high quality translation.

Why not engage me on your next project? Fast turnaround, high quality, always affordable prices!

I am happy to announce that I have started helping ESO, the European Southern Observatory, with transcribing their videos into Finnish. I'm also contributing to Charity Translators' projects with my Finnish languages skills.

I'm currently doing pro bono work for TED and Crowdin.

The TED Talk I'm translating and subtitling at the moment is about period positivity.

I'm translating and localising the following mobile phone applications through Crowdin:

  • KeePassium Password Manager
  • Seek by iNaturalist
  • Sponge - A community-driven open source Minecraft: Java Edition modding platform.
